On April 21, a group of 50 Girl Scouts gathered on the Upper West Side to put together and distribute 120 care packages for the homeless. They showed the true spirit of #joyj, doing every task with inspiring zeal, enthusiasm, and courage. #thankyou to all the Girl Scouts and their parents for being part of such an amazing #outreach! #helpingtogether #homelessness #homelessisreal
On Friday June 9th, over 20 volunteers from Deloitte packaged and distributed 50 comfort bags in the area surrounding their offices. The day was a rousing success for our Corporate Outreach team as Deloitte employees exhibited support and enthusiasm for our cause. Numerous connections were made within their community and experiences were shared after the great day. Organizers from Deloitte could not have been happier with the outcome and have already expressed interest in hosting future outreaches. We thank them for the opportunity and look forward to working with them again!
On February 23rd, JoyJ hosted a corporate outreach with the reputable communications agency Havas Luxe!! With 8 corporate volunteers we were able to distribute 35 bags to the homeless community. The day was a huge success and we would like to thank all the volunteers from Havas Luxe for making this possible and hope to work together in the future!
JoyJ’s Blessed Sacrament chapter hosted another successful outreach in late January! Sixty-seven volunteers of all ages (from 4 years old to 80!) distributed 120 bags throughout NYC. They distributed critical supplies that are very difficult for the homeless to procure, including sweatshirts, warm hats, gloves, scarves, and hand warmers. Can you imagine not making it into a shelter during the winter and trying to SURVIVE on the streets without these items?
On January 18th, volunteers, many of who were meeting for the first time, gathered at Rome’s Stazione Termini to distribute 90 bags filled with winter essentials. In addition to these vital items, volunteers handed out much needed treats, which including hot chocolate, tea and cakes.
The outreach couldn’t have come at a better time as the residents of Rome and their homeless population are experiencing unusually cold temperatures this winter. These items will bring some much needed warmth and comfort during this bleak winter.
We would like to thank, in particular, the wonderful people at Centro Ricreativo CRIS whom helped organize and coordinate the event! We are thrilled to report that the outreach was such a success that an additional outreach has already been scheduled for February 9th! Thank you once again and we look forward to the continued success in aiding the homeless population of Rome!
