St. Anthony Chapter Growing Fast & Confirms 2015 Outreach Calendar

The St. Anthony chapter is off to the races! Incredibly, over seventy people came out in sub-20 degree weather at our last Outreach on January 10 to distribute 150 comfort bags. We had busy single Manhattanites, we had retired parishioners from our church, we had families, and we even had some spectating babies! It was awe-inspiring. We’ve come a long way in just a year, and see no signs of slowing down soon. There are so many people contributing generously with their time to drive this organization forward, especially our core committee, the volunteers who have been at every single one of our outreaches, and everyone who has helped us secure items and donations for these events.

Saks Fifth Avenue will host a charitable event for the JoyJ Initiative in April

Saks Fifth Avenue will host a philanthropic shopping night to raise funds for the JoyJ Initiative on April 9. Saks one-on-one shoppers, special guests, and JoyJ supporters who shop the Raoul Spring 2015 Collection during the event will be helping to raise funds for JoyJ Outreach programs. 10% of all sales during the event will be donated to JoyJ, and 100% of those proceeds will go directly toward purchasing supplies for existing chapters and growing new chapters.

There will be light bites, prosecco, live music, and a live fashion presentation by four models. JoyJ staff & volunteers will be present at the event, and will be eager to share about their work with the homeless and how that work has impacted their lives. Over 400 unique volunteers have participated in JoyJ Outreaches to date.

Please RSVP for the event by emailing

Where: Saks Fifth Avenue – 611 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY

When: April 9th 2015, 6 pm – 8 pm

Update: The event was an incredible success. Roughly 100 supporters came out to listen to live music, eat and drink, watch the fashion show, and support our cause. Thank you!

Blessed Sacrament Chapter Marks Two Year Anniversary of First Outreach with Joint Event

JoyJ’s Blessed Sacrament chapter celebrated its second anniversary by holding a joint Outreach with our newest chapter at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On January 24th, despite challenging weather, 74 volunteers from the Church of Blessed Sacrament and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus distributed 120 comfort bags to the homeless at several locations in the Upper East Side & Midtown. The volunteers included the young adult group from Sacred Heart and their leaders. The energy and enthusiasm at this Outreach was among the best we’ve had yet.

In the last two years, hundreds of volunteers from Blessed Sacrament have participated in homeless Outreaches. Volunteers have spanned all ages, including families with children, and even Troop 777 of the Boy Scouts of Manhattan. The scouts have come out to help several times, even bringing parents and siblings along!

At Blessed Sacrament, JoyJ volunteers go above and beyond the core mission of the JoyJ Initiative by regularly helping the elderly, the sick, and the homebound in nursing facilities and private homes. Every week, JoyJ volunteers visit the elderly and sick residents of The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation & Healing Center and Atria 86 West.
