Blessed Sacrament Chapter Marks Two Year Anniversary of First Outreach with Joint Event

JoyJ’s Blessed Sacrament chapter celebrated its second anniversary by holding a joint Outreach with our newest chapter at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On January 24th, despite challenging weather, 74 volunteers from the Church of Blessed Sacrament and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus distributed 120 comfort bags to the homeless at several locations in the Upper East Side & Midtown. The volunteers included the young adult group from Sacred Heart and their leaders. The energy and enthusiasm at this Outreach was among the best we’ve had yet.

In the last two years, hundreds of volunteers from Blessed Sacrament have participated in homeless Outreaches. Volunteers have spanned all ages, including families with children, and even Troop 777 of the Boy Scouts of Manhattan. The scouts have come out to help several times, even bringing parents and siblings along!

At Blessed Sacrament, JoyJ volunteers go above and beyond the core mission of the JoyJ Initiative by regularly helping the elderly, the sick, and the homebound in nursing facilities and private homes. Every week, JoyJ volunteers visit the elderly and sick residents of The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation & Healing Center and Atria 86 West.
