On July 31st, 20 JoyJ volunteers visited a rural, less fortunate community on the edge of the Cristalina Quedabra – south of Neiva, Colombia.
There they met hungry children, mothers fighting to keep their families afloat and many adults who were abandoned and/or disabled. Volunteers noted that the experience opened their eyes to a level of poverty they hadn’t known before.
One shared: “This sad experience has given me so much strength that is so satisfying to the point that I have forgotten all my problems and needs.”
While the homelessness epidemic is sprawling, we are an army of many. Through compassion and collaboration, together we can make a difference in lives.
