JoyJ Initiative is funding a wonderful project in Rwanda, partnering with organization Mama Courage whose mission it is to empower adolescent single mothers by equipping them to support themselves and their babies.

Mama Courage offers a six-month intensive sewing course for 25 teenagers at a time while offering high quality daycare to their children.  The curriculum includes discussions about reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, support groups and individual counseling for these vulnerable adolescents. At the end of the six-month course the 25 single mothers are ready to begin their own business.  They are given a sewing machine, a range of fabrics, and all the tools they will need to become freelance tailors.

Bringing smile on everyone's faces!

In January, a new cycle of 25 adolescent mothers will come to Mama Courage for training and 12 of those teenagers are funded by the JoyJ Initiative grant.  Twelve young women whose lives–and whose children’s lives–will be improved forever because of JoyJ’s donors’ generosity!
